My wife and I want nothing to do with Weseloh Honda in San Juan Capistrano, CA any more, not so much from the negligance, but from the lack of apology, rude treatment we got after the car was stolen, and they misrepresentation to Honda. We were appalled he had the nerve to mislead Honda. The GM told him we were offered well "above" market value for the car, and a great deal on a new '04, which of course wasn't true at all. Not sure if he will get that though.Īs to the Honda zone manager, he did call the General Manager at Weseloh. He also asked for more money to cover the loss of a car for the last 30 or so days since we had to give the rental car back, since they are supposed to pay off at 30 days. The lawer had to call Weseloh and ask them for a check for the "bolt on" items, which he did get for us. They wouldn't cover the personal items at all (hitch, mud flaps, cargo cover, etc.) since Weseloh doesn't carry insurance for that, probably like most dealers. They gave him a little run around, but did agree to come up a little, but not to full kbb or edmunds retail. Our lawyer called them several times and told them that the lower than either kbb.com or number wasn't good enough. Still no payout from the insurance company. The insurance is offering us considerably less than either Kelly Blue Book or Edumunds retail value, both of which are almost the same. They did give us a rental car for this period that they paid for. The 30 day period is up Sunday the 20th, so just a few more days. I'll let everyone know when we hear more. I hated to have to do that, but neither the Weseloh or the Insurance company have been fun to deal with.Īt this point, my wife is not even sure she wants another Honda, and has started looking at the Sienna. Since they didn't, and Weseloh didn't want to come down on the price of a new one any more, we have contacted both a lawyer, and Honda Zone manager for this area. If the insurance company had offered what either Edmunds or KBB show as the value, we probably would have went for that. But that would have cost us several thousand dollars for what we feel was thier mistake (leaving it out front unlocked, with keys in the van). He did offer to sell us an 04 Ody for invoice. Surprisingly, he wasn't very nice about this, and said he thought the insurance company offer was plenty. We never did get a call back from the dealer, so we called the General Manager.
